Leesburg Eagle Nest

This is one of the three eagle nests in Loudoun County.  I found this one last year and hope to find the others soon.  I know this nest had at least one chick because I saw mom feeding.  The nest is kind of far and you can't see into the nest any by the time the chick(s) were ready to fledge, the trees had grown in and the nest couldn't be seen at all.

Don't know which.

Both Mom and Dad

Taken without zooming in.
So, as you can see, once the trees start filling in, the nest can't be seen.

Taken by a zoom camera.

Picture taken through a scope.
Both Mom and Dad are in the nest doing nestorations.

Picture taken through a scope.
Still doing nestorations.

  1. Great pictures, Diane. That sure looks like a sycamore tree! I can only see one nest pretty good at Park where I work. It's a beech. But we have same problem when leaves emerge!

  3. I would love to have a nest in MY woods!! But this one is about a 10 minute drive, down non-existant roads. But I'm not complaining...I was SO excited when I found out this was here. I try to go out there one a week.
