My Lacee Girl

My Lacee turned 12 about June 1st (she was adopted, so we are not really sure).  We adopted her 11 years ago from Border Collie Rescue of TX.  She was my heart dog, the one that fills your heart to the brim, the one that will never be replaced.

On July 14th, she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her small intestines.  She had surgery to remove the tumor and she was recovering well.  But, on July 23rd, she lost the battle.  I loved her so much,  she took a piece of my heart with her.

I did a little tribute to honor her life.  She's always in my heart!

Leesburg Eagle Nest

This is one of the three eagle nests in Loudoun County.  I found this one last year and hope to find the others soon.  I know this nest had at least one chick because I saw mom feeding.  The nest is kind of far and you can't see into the nest any by the time the chick(s) were ready to fledge, the trees had grown in and the nest couldn't be seen at all.

Don't know which.

Both Mom and Dad

Taken without zooming in.
So, as you can see, once the trees start filling in, the nest can't be seen.

Taken by a zoom camera.

Picture taken through a scope.
Both Mom and Dad are in the nest doing nestorations.

Picture taken through a scope.
Still doing nestorations.

Newest Member of our family....Danny

Danny was rescued from horrific conditions in Sept of '09 in TN from a puppy mill along with 100 other border collies.   You can see the video of the rescue here: http://www.wsmv.com/video/21119378/index.html

Danny is thought to be about 3 1/2 years old, so he spent 2 1/2 years in a cage being used to breed.  Once rescued, he spent a year in rescue before coming to me.  He is very frightened of life and most people, it takes a lot of love, patience and time.  Luckily I have all three.  He's progressed remarkedly in the four months we've had him.  He joined Lacee, my 11 year old border collie, who is also a rescue from TX.  They get along ok, but aren't really best buds.

I'm very thankful to have been given the opportunity to help Danny come out of his shell and try to live a normal life. He may never be "normal", but that's ok.  He loves me and I love him so much, that's all that matters!!
